Before we step in to 2020, let’s try and look back and list out the updates that have affected all the Digital Platform’s in 2019 based on Search Engine, Social media and latest news across the digital world.
Google launches SEO for beginners – An animated Video series - New episodes will be released every two weeks and can be watched in any order.
Google describes the series as
… "a new fully animated series for anyone who is interested in learning the basics of creating an online presence and the right Google Search tools to help customers find their website.”
2. Google to introduce the badge of shame in Chrome - In the recent blog post published by Chromium dev team, The Search engine giant has made it clear that it will emphasize more on user experience while they browse and also reward the websites that provide a great user experience

3. Neural matching for local search - with latest Google AI technology - A lot of local Search ranking are seeing changes in their rank position last one month and the reason is Google has integrated Neural Matching as an integral part to generate Local Search results. Google updated this via the @SearchLiason twitter account.
The focus is now to deliver more comprehensive and informative search results for google users, this will create new paths and Strategy for all SEO efforts deployed by professionals in the SEO industry to rework and create new Strategies

4. Sponsored Tags and User generated Tags - Rel =”sponsored” tag which will identify links such as purchased, referrals etc

5. No follow Status – Google Will now comply with the previously set webmaster rule no follow tag, It’s up to the search engine’s AI to decide the tag status.
6. Zero Click Search – are on the raise you will now get what you are looking for without clicking the website link and this is referred to as Zero Click Search.
7. Search Console Data – Same day – Search console will now refresh faster than before providing the latest performance report that will in turn help the site owners to check Traffic, website statistics, Weekend performance reports etc.
8.BERT - Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers. Created by Jacob Devlin, a technique of natural language processing, in short the BERT model considers the full context of a word by looking at what came before the word and what came after– This is a massive update will provide better search results as Google will now understand the query Context better.
9. New Snippet – by using this Tag you can now control which text should and should not appear in the featured snippet on SERP. - no snippet max-snippet, max-video-preview, max-image-preview.
10. Search Results without URL’s – Only the website name will be displayed, this is in initial testing phase, benefit of showing a URL is that it helps to exclude click-through’s to companies that aren’t legitimate. Websites with URLs that don’t necessarily match your search queries can be avoided if you see the URL.
Right now, this appears to be affecting very few users, so it’s only in the testing stages. But what you all should be monitoring is how the removal of URLs from search queries affects your company’s click-through rates. Will you see lower click-through rates because your URL isn’t displayed?
11. Search Console report for Videos – Visible in the left side under “Videos” for sites that have added video mark up. Video Enhancement report – shows errors and warnings,Click and impression the videos got in Search
12. Google To Stop Indexing Flash Content – Very Soon google will stop indexing website with Flash, moving to HTML5 and JavaScript is the ideal replacement.
